Activity Description

You are collected 0800am. The day typically starts with a river cruise into the park, with an opportunity to see a host of waders and water birds along with the ever present crocodiles and lurking hippos. Chobe is renowned for scores of large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink – most notably buffalo and elephant. On the island, Puku and Lechwe are often seen and on the banks kudu, impala and water buck are common. A complimentary soft drink is included on the boat, as well as tea and coffee and a light snack prior to guest’s activity.

After the cruise a satisfying lunch buffet is served at the Coffee Buzz restaurant. Bottled water, tea and coffee are included with lunch.

After a one hour lunch break, we take off on a game drive – getting close to nature with specially adapted open 4 × 4 vehicles. Frequent lion sightings occur in Chobe, Eland,Sable, and Roan antelope are common at certain times of the year. Leopards are elusive but common in the area – you may be lucky! Drives are typically along the waterfront where game congregates to quench their thirst, with Lions often lying in wait or just dozing in the shade. Guests are provided with a complimentary soft drink while experiencing some of the best game viewing in Africa.

After the Safari drive vehicles return to the appropriate border at 16h30 for their return transfer to Livingstone. For anyone not able to stay over in Botswana the Chobe day trip is a must!

Customer Reviews

We loved this trip to Chobe Our guide LEO was great While we also had a 3 day Safari in Kruger, Chobe was our first stop. Even though we saw more diversity in Kruger (we saw the Big 5 two separate days) the sheer number of elephant hippo giraffe and storks we saw in Chobe was incredible. If we ever come back with other friends to travel this part of Africa we will make sure to add a day trip to Chobe thru your company. Everything was very professionally done. We felt safe every part of the trip and we saw things we couldn't imagine seeing if we tried something on our own. - David

It was great. Good experience, excellent guide. One thing which I didn't like was timing. We were asked to be at the border at 8.00 we waited for others more than one hour. Thank you. - Agnieszka

We had a really fantastic day with Kalahari Tours. The timing was perfect, the food was delicious, our guide was excellent and we saw loads of animals. Would highly recommend. - Suzy

Overall the full day trip to Chobe was excellent. We were picked up on time on the Botswana side; the 'coffee break' was pleasant; the boat ride on the river was Wonderful! The lunch was good and the game drive was excellent. Thanks for a delightful time along the Chobe! On the 'opportunities for improvement' side: 1. When we got to the Zambezi crossing that morning before the tour, things were chaotic. There were trucks everywhere waiting to ferry to Botswana. There were no signs to indicate the customs and immigration location but fortunately I have 28 years of experience in Africa and my three friends/tour partners are Zambian so we found the Zambia/Botswana office and cleared that. 2. Then we went to the River looking for a Kalahari Tour sign - there are NONE! So we asked a person and they sent us to a dock but there was no one there. 3. So we went to another dock where "John" was pulling in a boat. We asked where the Kalahari boat was; he replied that it was not working. After a bit of negotiating, John agreed to ferry us across the river. 4. We got to the other side of the Zambezi with John, but still no sign of any kind indicating Kalahari, so we stood around waiting and wondering, but at least we were in Botswana! 5. Finally, one Kalahari van, then quickly two more - so we were fine and as noted above, the tour was excellent. However, tourists new to Africa would have been totally lost on the Zambian side. That the customs/immigration folks have no sign is just typical Africa. But you guys have a professional, well run operation from the website to the boat ride and the game drive on the Botswana side - so try to make it easier for your customers on the Zambian side with some signs on the dock, on the boat and on the other side on arrival. Thanks, Steve - Steven
