Activity Description

Day one: – 08h30 guests are met at Kazungula by their guide and are escorted through Immigration formalities. A short briefing will follow on some pertinent facts such as safety, and some regional information. At 09h30 guests board the boat and commence a 3 hour boat cruise into the Chobe National park. The river cruise is considered one of the highlights of the trip, as one gets the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic birdlife, hippos, crocodiles, and of course scores of elephant and Cape buffalo that make their way down to the river to quench their thirst. The boat cruise ends at the Kalahari offices at 12h30 . After a hearty lunch at the restaurant there is an opportunity to do last minute shopping in Kasane before departing on an afternoon game drive—this being the best time to see Chobe’s large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink.

Arrive in camp shortly after sunset for drinks around the camp fire and dinner under the stars.

Day two: – Guests are woken at dawn with warm water being poured into their basins and a friendly Botswana “dumela” (good day). After a quick cup of tea or coffee and a light continental breakfast, vehicles head off on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding the big cats, or possibly the endangered Wild dogs as they are still active at this time and chances of seeing them are good. Around mid to late morning guests return to camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and a siesta getting an opportunity to read, rest or take a refreshing shower.

When the day starts to cool off another afternoon game drive follows tea, and good sightings are revisited or areas as yet unexplored are visited. Chobe National Park has a wide variety of game – the cats and large herbivores such as elephant and buffalo being a highlight, but rarer game such as Puku ,Eland, Sable and Roan antelope along with many more common antelope can be viewed here. Return to camp after sunset for a reflective fireside chat. Dinner follows, as always accompanied by the unforgettable sounds of the African night.

Day three – After another “dumela” dawn awakening and breakfast, guests leave the national park on their final game drive. This last drive may even prove to be the best and will with the others remain etched in memory as a truly great African experience. Guests are dropped off in Kasane/Kazungula at 08h30.

Customer Reviews

My wife and I booked a 3 day, two night Chobe camping trip with Kalahari tours in Oct 2019. This safari was added at the last minute from a hotel in Livingstone and it worked out fantastically. We were picked up/dropped off at our hotel, taken to the drop off point, where we were allowed to store extra luggage, and then jumped on the first boat based game drive. Along the way we were treated great, well fed and had all details (immigration, transportation, etc.) painlessly taken care of. The game drives within Chobe were beautiful and the camping was well organized and supported by friendly crew members. Our final boat based game drive was even more memorable since we were able to tell Richard our pilot what we had already seen and were able to spend nearly the whole time watching Elephants play in the river, close enough to hear their tusks knock together. I'd highly recommend Kalahari Tours to anyone (our daughter had recommended them to us, she had used them on a trip with CSU). Just be sure to bring extra batteries, or a way to recharge, or Kalahari could add USB plugs and extension cords to their trucks (please!). Thanks to Kennedy, Black Cat, Black Dog, Richard and Moses for a great trip. - Bruce McHugh

Amazing! We have seen tons of animals (including lions, buffalos, lepards, hippos!) and had a great guide who drove hours and hours to show us different spots. The camping was comfortable and the meals delicious. But for me it was a bit too much so if I go the next time, I would only take 2 days one night. - Linda Annina Kim Renner

gretaGHove hove 76 Reviewed 6 days ago 2 night 3 day camping trip in Chobe Thank you to the entire team at Kalahari Tours for a top notch professional approach in providing customers with a superb camping and wildlife experience in Chobe. We had first rate guides and learned so much from Kaiser and Captain and Sam on our boat trips on the Chobe River and during our transfers. Richard was our guide, driver and companion for our 2night 3 day camping trip in Chobe. His expert knowledge, unfailing patience and good humour made our trip the best travel experience of our lives. It was a privilege to spend time and learn so much about the animals from Richard. Safety was always his priority but he went the extra mile on so many occasions to ensure that we saw as many elephants, leopards, lions, zebras, buffalo, antelopes, jackal and bird life as possible. I recommend the 2 night 3 day trip as you do get in to the swing of camp life. On the final day, we were so relaxed about letting nature come to you as you roam the bush in the pretty comfortable jeep. Shout out to Massasa and his team in camp who cooked excellent meals, moved camp and generally did all the camp chores with great humour and skill. Finally, a heartfelt to thanks to our guide Richard – we miss you! Morag and Anya - morag smith
