Activity Description

Day one: – 08h30 guests are met at Kazungula by their guide and are escorted through Immigration formalities. There is an opportunity to do any last minute shopping in Kasane, as there are no shops within the Park. A short briefing will follow on some pertinent facts such as safety, and some regional information. At 09h30 guests board the boat and commence a 3 hour boat cruise into the Chobe National park. The river cruise is considered one of the highlights of the trip, as one gets the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic birdlife, hippos, crocodiles, and of course scores of elephant and Cape buffalo that make their way down to the river to quench their thirst. The boat cruise ends at the Coffee Buzz at 12h30. After a satisfying meal there is an opportunity to do any last minute shopping in Kasane, as there are no shops within the Park.An afternoon game drive follows and this is the best time to see Chobe’s large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink.

Return to camp shortly after sunset for drinks around the camp fire and dinner.

Day two: – guests are woken at dawn with warm water being poured into their basins and a friendly Botswana “dumela” (good day). After a quick cup of tea or coffee and a light continental style breakfast, you head off on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding the big cats or Wild dogs as they are still active at this time and chances of seeing them are good. Around mid to late morning guests return to camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and an opportunity to take a refreshing shower. After packing up, all leave the camp on the last drive, to be dropped off in Kasane/Kazungula 16:30.

Customer Reviews

The safari was wonderful. Smooth communication, great guides, delicious meals (good variety for vegetarians too!), everything worked well. We saw so many animals, including 15 lions. The camping site, tents, all was wonderful. Big thanks to Kalahari tours! - Veera

I have had the pleasure of joining Kalahari tours many times over the years and I am never disappointed. We have done the overnight camping in Chobe park both in March and November and both seasons have provided an excellent wildlife viewing experience. The guides are experienced at finding the animals and are good at imparting their knowledge to the guests. The food both at the cafe and at the campground is good. Although this is not "glamping " the tents are durable and the beds comfortable. I find I get my best sleep listening to the sounds of the night in the tent. Whenever teams are coming to volunteer with our Eye Clinic in Zimba Zambia we always book a weekend away in Chobe with Kalahari. I highly recommend doing the overnight camping in the park with Kalahari Tours. - Wallace x5 (now 4 pax 1 cancelled)

Nos adoramos a experiencia, foi sensacional, desde a organziacao de todas as atividades ate a qualidade dos nossos guias, destacando o Sam, que ficou com a gente no parque e no acampamento. tudo foi sensacional - Suiane Costa x 2

Communication at all levels was excellent and all service was provided as promised. Guide Kennedy was extremely knowledgeable and personable, and camp cooks were friendly and made delicious meals and had a tidy campsite. Saw everything we expected to see and more - except for rhinos which were beyond your control. Transfer to VF was seamless and driver was also kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend. - Vincent x2 (Self)

We did the overnight camping two day and one night tour and it did not disappoint. The tour started on the river and this part was slightly disappointing as you end up following other boats and stopping for 20 minutes at a time to look at a single hippo or croc. With that being said, the rest was outstanding and exceeded all expectations. Even if we didn't see animals the thrill would have been enough. You rarely see other cars, the environment is natural and they guides are very knowledgeable. We saw lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos, buffalo and even a leopard. The camping part was a bit scary but also worth while. You are out in the middle of Chobe in tents and wild animals can come through your camp ground (and did). The guides don't have guns or anything to protect you which is as it should be. Would I call again, probably not, but glad I experienced it once. - Aaron Gale x3
